I will be guest editing the upcoming edition of Alba Londres, an international magazine of Spanish language poetry in translation. This December edition will be dedicated to experimental Argentine writers including Romina Freschi and Paula Jimenez.
Nov 7th - Dec 1st at the Hardy Tree Gallery, David Kelly will be presenting ERKEMBODE a selection of visual work including his collaborations with several poets. I will be reading alongside Tim Atkins, Marcus Slease and others on the 23rd Nov. Free and all invited! READING AT THE COMMON HOUSE Support ACAC 19: Poetry Reading Fundraiser November 21 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm "On 10 November, 2013, 19 Californian activists (the Anti-Colonial Anti-Capitalist 19 or ACAC 19) were each fined $750 on charges of ‘unlawful assembly’ for their participation in a political demonstration in the financial district of San Francisco. For the activists involved, this was just the latest stage in a year of constant exposure to the machinery of state and judicial repression — exposure which began at the demonstration itself, when activists were beaten by police prior to their arrest, stripped of their phones, and treated as members of what the San Francisco Police Department called a “Criminal street gang”. For the rest of us, it’s one more step towards the total repression of the mass street movements whose resistance to capitalist ‘austerity’ and oppression has been such an enormous source of inspiration and relief. In solidarity with, and in admiration for, comrades overseas, on 21 November there will take place an Anti-Colonial, Anti-Capitalist poetry reading/fundraiser. A large bill of readers (TBA) will present some of the most exciting, various, ear-splitting and harmonious political poetry now being written in the UK. Another group of poets will report back on the recent Poetry and/or Revolution event which took place in California in November of this year. Magazines and books will be on sale to raise funds, a film will be made, connections will be built." http://supporttheacac19.wordpress.com/ I've been invited to participate in 'radical' translations for the upcoming Spain NOW! literary festival in Hackney Wick this weekend. Including the work of Julio Mas Alcaraz, Sara Torres and Eduardo Moga. Translations by myself and Terrance Dooley, including an in depth discussion after the readings on our approach to translation for each of the texts and the discourse of trans-language interpretation. My visual translations can be seen here. |
